One of my biggest wishes is for children to love themselves and be confident expressing who they are to the world.

So many people describe public speaking as their biggest fear and many of us are terrified to express ourselves.

Allowing children to have their voice and teaching them that it is not only safe but also fun to express themselves is a huge gift that I hope all children will receive.

These Story Telling Cards Build Confidence in a many areas:

  • Speaking out loud
  • Expressing their own thoughts
  • Sharing their creativity
  • Practicing life skills and communication skills
  • Building trust, love and connection
  • Learning that making mistakes is a great thing because you learn from it.
  • Learning about story structure and how to tell an exciting story.
  • And knowing that they are wonderful at speaking so as they grow they will not carry fears around public speaking and expressing themselves.

Story Starters

This story telling game provides numerous options for educational play, which helps children developmentally while also being great fun.

This fun game for kids has been designed to grow with your child; when your children are little parents and careers can tell the stories while children pick the cards; as they grow let them take over the story telling, when they are older they can even be used for creative writing practice.

The story options are endless and they lead to a fun and interactive bedtime story!

Just a few of the games you can play with this fun educational family game:

Story Starters:

Read the start of the story from the card or use the picture card and then use your imagination to decide what should happen next.  If you get stuck with what should happen next you can draw another card to see where the story should go!

Creative Writing:

Draw 3 cards and place them down in a row.  The first card is the beginning of the story, the second card the middle and the third card the end of the story.  This introduces children to story structure- let them use their imagination to write the rest of the story.

Take Turns:

Take turns drawing a card from the pack and telling a short story.

Act Out the Stories:

Use toys, props and yourselves to act the stories out.

Memory:

See how much of the story your child can remember when you have finished telling it.

Bed Time Story for kids:

A great way to tell bed time stories.

Tips:

  • To help your child grow their storytelling skills, ask them who, what, why, when, how questions.
  • Remember a story needs to have a beginning, middle and end.
  • Let your child grow with the cards. You might tell most of the stories at first but as your child grows in confidence and skills encourage them to take over the storytelling.
  • Make it fun and safe for them to grow their imagination.
  • Use positive, affirming language.

  1. I love the Beetle Bottoms Story Cards and the books. The children I care for are having fun telling me amazing Beetle Bottoms stories and we are having a lot of laughs. Thank you so much . I am showing everyone your beautiful products.

  2. Hi, Love your products. I bought the Colour Memory & Snap cards, Story Play cards, and the Beetle Bottom and the Sticky Situation over the weekend. My daughter is 6 and she loves the book, finished it within 10 minutes.
We have played the card games too. She loves the theme; she has even gone searching the garden for them this morning before school. Thank you for coming up with this fantastic idea for children. My daughter was actually asking me if they were real, and I said they just might be… you never know! She was thrilled. Can you please have more books released? Please?! She keeps reading the one book over and over… I am sure she would love for the story to continue…..best purchase I have made by far in a long time! Keep up the great work!
Oh, I forgot to add that my daughter was dreaming about the Beetle Bottoms last night. She was telling me about it all excited this morning!

  3. The images on Beetle Bottom products are cute, colourful and my girls just adore them. They loved the fairy like characters and are now on the look out for Beetle Bottoms in the backyard.

  4. This is a series that I would highly recommend be at the top of that list for this year!

Both books offered a lot of scope for talking and thinking which is such a critical part of sharing stories with little ones, if we want them to learn the language we are expecting them to master. And after we read them, there was a lot of fun searching for Beetle Bottoms in the fairy garden that is such an integral part of my granddaughters’ playground. And as we were looking we learned about petals, and thorns, and bark, and all those nature-related words. No wonder we adored these books. In fact, when we had a recent hailstorm, Miss Nearly 3 was concerned that her Beetle Bottoms might have been hurt or drowned!
